Kepta
Privacy Policy
The short version. Kepta has no account and no server of its own. What you record stays on your iPhone and, if you use iCloud, in your own private iCloud database. There is no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind in this app, and the developer cannot read your ledger.
Who is responsible
Kepta is made by Sercan Burak Ağır, an independent developer. Questions about this policy: sercanburak@gmail.com.
What Kepta stores, and where
Everything you enter — transactions, categories, merchants, household members, regular payments, debts, vehicles and settings — is stored in a database on your device.
- On your device. The database file lives in the app's own container, shared with the Kepta widget and share extension so they can show and add the same records.
- In your iCloud. If you are signed in to iCloud and iCloud Drive is on for Kepta, iOS syncs that database to your private iCloud database, so your other devices see the same ledger. This is handled by Apple. The developer has no access to it, cannot read it and cannot restore it for you.
You can turn the sync off in iOS Settings → your name → iCloud → Saved to iCloud → Kepta. Kepta keeps working; it just stops syncing.
What Kepta does not do
- No Kepta account, no sign-up, no login.
- No Kepta server. The app has no backend to send anything to.
- No analytics, no crash-reporting service, no advertising and no tracking SDK. The app contains no third-party code at all.
- No bank connections. Kepta never asks for online banking credentials and does not use a data aggregator.
- Nothing is sold, shared or transferred to anyone, because nothing is collected in the first place.
Camera
The camera is used only when you choose to scan a fuel receipt. The image is read on your device with Apple's on-device text recognition, the amount and the litres are put into a draft transaction, and the image is discarded. It is not saved to your photo library and it is not uploaded anywhere.
Microphone and speech recognition
The microphone is used only while you hold the dictation button in quick entry. Speech is turned into text by iOS on your device; the audio never leaves the phone. The first time you use a language, iOS may download its speech model from Apple — that download tells Apple which model you asked for, and nothing about what you said. Neither the audio nor the text is sent to the developer.
Statements and files you import
PDF or CSV statements you import are read on your device. They are not uploaded. Kepta keeps the transactions it reads out of them; the file itself is not retained by the app.
Notifications
Reminders about subscriptions, bills, instalments, debts and vehicle deadlines are scheduled locally by your device. They are not push notifications and no server is involved, so no one — including the developer — learns what you are being reminded about.
Links that leave the app
One feature opens your browser: when you ask Kepta to help you find how to cancel a subscription, it opens a web search for that subscription's cancellation page. That request goes to the search engine (DuckDuckGo) and is covered by their privacy policy, exactly as if you had typed the search yourself. Kepta sends nothing else anywhere.
Children
Kepta is a personal finance tool for general audiences. It does not knowingly collect anything from anyone, of any age, because it does not collect anything at all.
Keeping and deleting your data
Your data is kept for as long as you keep it. To delete it:
- Delete the app to remove the local copy from that device.
- Remove the iCloud copy in iOS Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → Kepta → Delete.
The developer cannot delete your data for you, and cannot recover it either — there is no copy anywhere else.
Your rights
Under the GDPR, the Turkish KVKK and similar laws you have the right to access, correct, export or delete the personal data a company holds about you. Kepta holds none: there is no database of users, no email list and no identifiers. Everything you would ask for is already in your hands, inside the app.
Changes to this policy
If the app ever starts doing something this page does not describe, this page is updated before that version ships, and the date at the top changes.
